A REMINDER & A WARNING
A Dream from March 29
It’s a Saturday. The day of rest. You can hear the people outside having fun and moving from one place to the next. My friends and I are at a house getting ready for a nice relaxing day at the pool. One of the few days the smell of clourine is a sweet aroma.
My hair isn’t in the most optimal style for swimming such as braids, but at least it’s not straight. I get up, cute as can be, puff puffing in all its glory. Some of us head to the pool. Just as relaxing as I hoped. I jump in and out and it feels like college. Just me, my girls, some boys, a little flirting here and there but a whole lot of fun. No cares in the world.
I go back to the house and there are more people that have showed up. Some of the girls are doing each others hair so they can hit the pool and I ask for help getting mine together but just decided on a bun. I look around and there are so many people. It’s really a party now. I look in the rooms and realize me and one other girl don’t have roommates but as I question that another girl comes in. That is her roommate. Yet, still none in sight for me.
I pass the girls that came in and start some small talk. Well..I was trying to talk she was trying to flirt. Looking at me like the next meal on the menu. I backed away slowlyyy and exited the door. Cause who has time for that?
I start running down he road. Unsure if I was looking for something or just enjoyed the breeze. But either way, I passed my the busyness of outside. Cars moving on either side, families walking and sitting together.
Then I look up. I see embers and flames. No smoke. Nothing alerting, only fire. I felt like I was the only one who noticed. The only one looking back to what was heading for us. As I focused in I realized this was not just a fire, this was fire coming from the sky. Vicious, aggressive and pointed. It seemed there was no end to how far wide it went. But it was coming for us. I could see it melting cars and I couldn’t even see buildings so I could only imagine the people.
Immediately I run back. Panicked and pained. Like Drew Barrymore in Scream. I see the images in my head but its urgency doesn’t match the people in my path. Can they not see it too? People are sitting watching the rodeo. People are working selling things. Kids are playing hide and seek. I get back to my friends and then….
I wake up.
2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
God revealed some things to me with this dream. Things that 1. I have heard, 2. I already knew and 3.that I became comfortable with, forgetting the urgency. The way God gave it to me is this, “There are two groups of people”:
Those who see and are sent to warn (Ezekiel 33)
Those who do not see and cannot discern they are in the path of destruction
Those who see may still be in the path of destruction too
So be on alert and not slothful. Do not get comfortable. Our king is getting dressed for battle and is on His way.
PRAYER
Lord, I repent. I turn away from slothfulness and comfortability (Proverbs 20:4). I take my eyes off the things delighting my flesh and remove myself from the war in my head trying to hold on to fruitless pleasures (1 John 2:15-17). Nothing is more precious than you and your presence (Psalm 16:11). Nothing is more fulfilling than your bread and your water (John 6:50-51; John 4:14). Nothing is more pleasing that your treasures (Luke 12:34). Fill me with your love. A love that an never be cloned. A love that can never be copied or defiled. Give it abundantly and overflowing as I rest in your arms (1 John 4:16). Lord let your word go forth as a two edged sword to its destination, unstoppable and untamable by the darts of the enemy. (Hebrews 4:12)
Let us remember our quest, let us remember the times, give us eyes to see and courage to go forth. Help us in our quest. Though we walk through valleys, deliver us from evil (in the spirit and on earth, in our minds and in our heart) (Psalm 23:4). Quiet the voice of the enemy so we may be tuned to your voice alone.
Give us hearts of obedience, a holy fear of the Lord (Proverbs 1:7, 8:13; Job 28:28). Let us reverence you, remembering your holiness (1 Samuel 2:2). Help us to rely on your spirit and holy transformation, and keep us from self righteousness that is not sustainable (Romans 12:12; Ephesians 2:8-9). I thank you for your warning and I thank you for your reminder. Thank you for your love that causes patience with hopes that we will not perish (2 Peter 3:9). Open our eyes to see as you see, to hear as you hear, to feel as you feel. Revive our holy spirit with fire, strengthen our convictions where we have weaken them by ignoring their pull (Luke 3:16; 2 Cor. 7:9-10).
Let our love show in our fruit and our actions (Galatians 5:22-23; 1 John 1:7), and were we fall short, let us chase YOU. For you are the source of everything I need.
To the only wise God, all powerful, almighty and worthy of praise, glory and honor.
Blessings to the King of Glory. Amen, Amen and Amen.
